When Camille, co-owner of a new restaurant in Biarritz, France, found me online and reached out about commissioning a large installation of MiMOKO wall vases, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. Together with her husband and head chef, Guillaume Goyeneche, they were in preparations to open Kaldera, a restaurant offering a contemporary take on regional ingredients using traditional cooking methods.
I created 25 wall vases for the space, designed to complement the restaurant’s warm, modern atmosphere. Filled with plants that showcase the surrounding plant life, the installation brings together food, landscape and craftsmanship in celebration of the Basque coast.
I was thrilled with the final outcome and especially with Camille’s thoughtful attention to every detail of the restaurant. My work sits alongside pieces by several other craftspeople she sourced both locally and internationally.
